Results from The Future of Work Report show that almost 20% of U.K. respondents say they have very little knowledge of their total reward. In contrast, results show that German and Danish respondents believe they are most knowledgeable about their compensation and benefits with an impressive 65% and 62% respectively. These maybe-not-so-surprising but radically diverse figures show the differences between not only workplaces, but also, perhaps, work culture in different countries.
But what is the effect of employees not knowing their true value at work? In the challenging times of the pandemic, there’s never been a more urgent time for companies to offer relevant rewards and benefits that save their employees money … and these rewards and benefits don’t even need to be complicated!
How do benefits make employees more productive?
Several studies show that offering employees even the simplest of reward or benefit can increase productivity and wellness. Media company Forbes state that nearly 20% of North American workers worry their bosses won’t think they are hardworking if they take regular lunch breaks, 38% of employees don’t feel encouraged to take a lunch break, and, more interestingly, 22% of bosses say that employees who take a regular lunch break are less hardworking.
Forbes go on to say that these findings are a shame because a survey conducted by Tork revealed that nearly 94% of North American employees claim that taking lunch breaks helps them feel refreshed and ready to get back to work. This research seems to suggest benefits, even as simple as taking a break, do increase productivity and are really important to employees.
